چکیده

We describe new algorithms for training tagging models, as an alternative to maximum-entropy models or conditional random fields (CRFs). The algorithms rely on Viterbi decoding of training examples, combined with simple additive updates. We describe theory justifying the algorithms through a modification of the proof of convergence of the perceptron algorithm for classification problems. We give experimental results on part-of-speech tagging and base noun phrase chunking, in both cases showing improvements over results for a maximum-entropy tagger.

Discriminative utterance verification using multiple confidence measures

This paper proposes an utterance veri cation system for hidden Markov model (HMM) based automatic speech recognition systems. A veri cation objective function, based on a multi-layer-perceptron (MLP), is adopted which combines con dence measures from both the recognition and veri cation models. Discriminative minimum veri cation error training is applied for optimizing the parameters of the MLP...

Multi-view Discriminative Sequential Learning

Discriminative learning techniques for sequential data have proven to be more effective than generative models for named entity recognition, information extraction, and other tasks of discrimination. However, semi-supervised learning mechanisms that utilize inexpensive unlabeled sequences in addition to few labeled sequences – such as the Baum-Welch algorithm – are available only for generative...

An Adaptive Approach to Increase Accuracy of Forward Algorithm for Solving Evaluation Problems on Unstable Statistical Data Set

Nowadays, Hidden Markov models are extensively utilized for modeling stochastic processes. These models help researchers establish and implement the desired theoretical foundations using Markov algorithms such as Forward one. however, Using Stability hypothesis and the mean statistic for determining the values of Markov functions on unstable statistical data set has led to a significant reducti...

A Fast Discriminative Training Algorithm for Minimum Classification Error

In this paper a new algorithm is proposed for fast discriminative training of hidden Markov models (HMMs) based on minimum classification error (MCE). The algorithm is able to train acoustic models in a few iterations, thus overcoming the slow training speed typical of discriminative training methods based on gradient-descendent. The algorithm tries to cancel the gradient of the objective funct...

Hybrid HMM/Neural Network based Speech Recognition in Loquendo ASR

This paper describes hybrid Hidden Markov Models / Artificial Neural Networks (HMM/ANN) models devoted to speech recognition, and in particular Loquendo HMM/ANN, that is the core of Loquendo ASR. While Hidden Markov Models (HMM) is a dominant approach in most state-of-the-art speaker-independent, continuous speech recognition systems (and commercial products), Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) a...
